Recently, many sellers have received important email alerts from eBay officials.

The email states that the French EPR has come into effect, and this email is intended to remind some categories on eBay's French site to be compliant with the regulation, and that eBay will reserve the right to take measures against sellers who do not meet the requirements.
PART01
Recalls That
Back in December of last year, ebay notified sellers on the backend that for French EPR-compliant items, the platform selling the item will be obligated to confirm that you are compliant with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements in the country/region where you are selling the item.

PART02
What is the French EPR?
The French EPR, like the German EPR, is an environmental policy that requires producers to take responsibility for the entire life cycle of the goods they put on the market, i.e., from the beginning of the design of the goods to the end of the life cycle of the goods (including waste collection and disposal). Under EPR, the responsible party must reduce the environmental impact of its goods throughout their life cycle.
PART03
How can I tell if I need to register a French EPR?
① Manufacture of goods that meet the requirements for extended producer responsibility in the corresponding country/region;
② Importing goods that meet the extended producer responsibility requirements to the respective country/region;
③ Selling goods that meet the extended producer responsibility requirements in the respective country/region and you are not incorporated in that country/region.
Most of the Chinese sellers in France and Germany meet points ② and ③.
PART04
What classifications are subject to EPR requirements?
Goods classified under the EPR include packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, furniture, tires, paper and textiles. Currently, France requires seven categories of products to be provided with the relevant registration number.

Laboratory Recommendations
With the implementation and enforcement of the EPR policy in the European Union, France will require the major platforms to confirm that the country where you are selling your products is in compliance with the requirements of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
Similarly, platforms such as eBay and Amazon will also notify sellers to register for EPR according to this requirement, therefore, the lab suggests relevant sellers to register as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary risks.
As an international authoritative comprehensive testing and certification organization, the laboratory can provide EPR registration services, as well as other comprehensive testing and certification services! Help you avoid the risks of export trade!
